The Rev. Scott A. Haynes, S.J.C. gives to the public a precious gift in the book “Mystical Theology of the Mass.” It is a kind of “summa liturgica sanctae Missae” and a real treasure for the knowledge of the mystery and of the holy action of the Mass. The author founds his explanations fully on the holy words of Revelation in the Holy. True. It blew my mind to learn that Christ was not a part of his name, but an honorific title meaning "anointed" in Greek. From what I gather this comes from a now-lost mystical tradition of rubbing oils infused with psychedelic plants onto an abraded area of skin on the forehead, and is used to basically mean "enlightened" as the Dharmic faiths use the term.
